I'm attempting to either install or upgrade a vCenter Server appliance to version 6.
I've tried installing it from scratch on an ESXi 6 host.
I've tried installing it from scratch on an ESXi 5.5 host.
I've tried upgrading an existing appliance running VSA 5.5.0.30200 Build 3255668.
The two ISO images I've mounted to run the install process with:
VMware-VCSA-all-6.0.0-3040890.iso
VMware-VCSA-all-6.0.0-2800571.iso
I've tried turning off my anti-virus program and the built-in Windows 7 firewall on my computer.
I've tried running the installation from a VM on the same subnet as the host server.
I've tried IE11, Fire Fox 43 and Firefox 44
In all cases, the progress indicator for authenticating to the host server shows "validating" for 3-4 minutes before showing a "Connection timed out" message.
One of the recent discussions on this tracked their issue to NTP settings on the VCSA:
My NTP server is DNS-resolved and has a PTR entry
I'm at a loss as to what my next steps should be.
Is there a log on the host server that would show the authentication attempts by the install/upgrade program?
