Hi,
I'm currently looking at a two site environment with vSphere 5.0 and SRM. We want to upgrade to vCenter 6.0 and external SRM 6.1 but to make things more interesting change the underlying OS from 2008 R2 to 2012 R2 and also upgrade the external SQL from 2008 R2 to 2012. I'm putting together a step by step guide. How do the following steps look?
Currently - 1 vCenter, 1 SRM, 1 SQL server per site
Steps to upgrade:
- Install Fresh PSC at each Site (Separate Sites, Single Domain)
- Upgrade vCenter 5.0 to 6.0 U2 at each site (Server 2008 R2, SQL 2008 R2) and associate with appropriate PSC
- Move vCenter SQL Database to new SQL Server and Move vCenter to new VM running 2012 R2 at each site (KB5850444)
- Move SRM DB to new SQL Server and install SRM on new VM running 2012 R2
This should hopefully keep all the existing data, I'll have to recreate rollup sql agent jobs etc but am I missing any big steps or likely to encounter any major issues? Thanks!
