Vcenter db maintenance

In looking at the performance best practices documents, it mentions the following two lines in regards to DB maintenance:

- Update statistics of the tables and indexes on a regular basis for better overall performance of the database.

- As part of the regular database maintenance activity, check the fragmentation of the index objects and recreate indexes if needed (i.e., if fragmentation is more than about 30%)

I’m running SQL standard and was wondering if anyone had any scripts or advice they can share on doing this? I found this WMware KB  and I know of Ola Hallengren’s scripts, but I don’t know what parameters to use for the latter or how often I should run the former.

If I check fragmentation, I see the numbers on all the tables are all quite high, well above the 30% mentioned above, but according to this KB , I shouldn’t worry about this for history tables? Only all other tables?

I find pulling up performance stats a little slow as well as searching for VMs so I figured it might be DB related but I’m a afraid of trying to do maintenance on the DB making things worse. I've looked on Google but don't seem to find much stuff that is specific to vCenter.

Any guidance is appreciated

Thanks
