Protecting vCenter

I am trying to figure out the best way to protect vCenter from a site loss. We have vCenter as a VM in a cluster, with HA, etc. But I want to protect against a total site loss and replicate to our DR site just in case. The two options I am considering is convert vCenter to a Hyper-V VM and just do Hyper-V replication of the VM between our primary site and our DR site. Seems very simply and hopefully reliable. Or use vSphere replication. But with vSphere replication I have to have some vCenter up to run the appliance and then I have to worry about protecting that vCenter--so seems like a chicken-egg scenario. Though I have not explored manually powering up the replicated vCenter directly from the ESX host at the DR site if needed. I am not sure that can be done with a VM protected by vSphere replication. Just like its kind of painful to do that with SRM.

I really would like to go the vSphere replication route personally.
