I don't know about you, but we are in the process of qualifying vSphere 6 for use in production. God help those of you that take VMware's word for it and upgrade to the latest version on day 1 of public release! Even if you have been in Beta (as we have)!
We would like very much to qualify the VCSA in place of the "traditional" Windows-based install, but are not pleased with what we have found so far:
- Why is this released as an ISO? What's wrong with OVF/OVA?
- What am I supposed to mount the ISO to? Is there a presumption that my admin desktop is already a VM?
- Before I begin, I am required to install the client integration plugin, which requires unpacking the ISO anyway
- We will not qualify any service which requires use of the Web Client due to its continued use of Flash
- We may qualify the VCSA on an exception if it only requires Flash during installation
In conclusion, at the very least, VCSA ought to b shipped as a ZIP, not an ISO!
