Unable to list Bitfusion plug-in in vCenter

I am working with Bitfusion beta version and deployed latest ESXI host for the same, Bitfusion ova and added guest variables to register as vCenter plugin but facing some challenges while listing Bitfusion appliance as a plugin in vCenter. I am following Bitfusion beta installation v2 document and tried all the possibilities but not sure if I am missing something, I also tried to login to the Bitfusion server but don’t know the first login credentials, below screenshot of the bitfusion appliance for reference.

Please help me to find the issue or a detailed installation document to verify the steps.

503 Service Unavailable

Hello,

I have 2 vcenter 6.5 servers in one sso domain.

Some time ago I have seen alarm about certificate. So i renewed all from gui, but alarm persisted.

Today I could not log in to vspere web ui, had error "User name and password are required" on the first server, and blank screen on the second one. So i restarted both. After reboot

503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http20NamedPipeServiceSpecE:0x00005567895eb3d0] _serverNamespace = / action = Allow _pipeName =/var/run/vmware/vpxd-webserver-pipe)

error is displayed.

In /var/log/vmware/messages there was error:

faultstring: The token authority rejected an issue request for TimePeriod [startTime=Fri May 08 06:42:07 UTC 2020, endTime=Fri May 08 06:52:07 UTC 2020] :: Signing certificate is not valid at Fri May 08 06:42:07 UTC 2020, cert validity: TimePeriod [startTime=Tue May 08 20:01:11 UTC 2018, endTime=Thu May 07 20:01:11 UTC 2020]

So I have decided to generate new certificates from cli with /usr/lib/vmware-vmca/bin/certificate-manager. Tried regenerating and resetting, but both operations failed when manager tried to start services. Anyway, using cmd /usr/lib/vmware-vmafd/bin/vecs-cli entry list --store MACHINE_SSL_CERT --text showed newly generated certificates.

VSphere 6.7 U3b to 6.7U3G convergence failure

Hi Everyone,

I have upgraded my VCenter, and externals PSC from 6.7U3B to 6.7 U3G. When I try to converge the External PSC to embedded I get the following message, and cannot continue

The vCenter Server appliance build number does not match with the vCenter Server appliance configured in the update repository.

I am unable to proceed at this point, please advise if you have encountered this issue, and a potential solution

Thank you

Installed VCSA 7, getting log in error

Hi everyone. I have installed vcsa 7 in workstation 15 and after I finish the set up I get this error:

"This vCenter Server is not currently registered with a vSphere Web Client. Please use vSphere Client Administration Tool (https://localhost:{port-number}/admin-app) on the machine running vSphere Web Client to register this vCenter Server."

This happened after I had to reinstall it due to a complete Windows 10 reinstallation. At first the set up failed at 0% and even though my fwd and reverse DNS were configured, I had to add the DNS server under tcp/ip for the vnet8 adapter. I have a Windows 2016 AD set up to provide DHCP and DNS access for vnet8 in workstation 15. I have tried reinstalling several times but I keep getting this error and it seems to be related to vsphere 5.x.

I have another vcsa 6.7 installed under workstation 15, same subnet and it works perfectly fine. Has anyone been able to install vsa7 in nested mode like I did? I'm using 192.168.98.160 as the dns server with optional 8.8.8.8, 192.168.98.2 for default gw and static ip of 192.168.98.180; the vcsa 6.7 vm has the same settings except for its ip of course.

VCSA upgrade to 7.0 issues

Hi folks!

I'm trying to upgrade vCenter appliance from 6.7 (build 44000) to 7.0 and getting an error:

Vsphere Profile-Driven Storage Service failed to start

I saw several VWare KB articles about similar issues, but they are related to older vCenter/VCSA versions

In the end, a new vCenter is up, but I'm worried about the overall upgrade experience.

In another lab, I upgraded vCenter on a first try with no issues, the only difference that in this one ESXis are 6.5, not 6.7

Did anyone face the same issue?

FNG admin needs help with Eval VCenter installed by previous admin (cannot login) and finding orphans datastores (cannot find in ESXi)

A previous admin at my company installed an evaluation license VCenter and ESXi, did not document the SSO logins and created a bunch of VM servers.  I am unable to login to SSO VCenter and unable to administer much of the virtual systems, cannot find orphaned VM datastores, cannot register existing VMs with VCenter or ESXi.

What I want to do is (1:) regain access to VCenter by resetting the SSO Admin p/w if possible, (2:) try to register the existing, orphaned VMs to get them squared away and eventually (3:) convert all the VMWare VMs to Hyper-V since we have only the one VM host (plus fail-over host) and less than a dozen VMs, many of which are going to go away.

Can anyone help with regaining control of VCenter?  VMWare support will not talk to me because I will not buy licenses for all the VMs that should have never been set up.

PSC Merge fail - The vCenter Server appliance build number does not match with the vCenter Server appliance configured in the update repository.

I  have upgraded my vCenter PSC to 6.7.0.44000. When I go into vCenter (System Configuration) and click the "Converge to Embedded" button, it fails with the following error:

The vCenter Server appliance build number does not match with the vCenter Server appliance configured in the update repository.

Based on a similar posting, I added the 6.7 ISO to the VM but no luck. Any idea on what causes this and how to get past it?

Thank you,

Patching vCenter 6.7 servers in Linked Mode

I recently started a new position and I'm managing a VMware 6.7 environment with 5 vCenter servers in linked mode (VCSAs with embedded PSCs).  Under System Configuration in vCenter, I'm showing the vCenter servers are configured as replication partners as well.

For example:

vcenter2-2

Replication Partner:

vcenter2-1

vdivcenter2-1

vcenter2-1

Replication Partner

vcenter1-1

vcenter2-2

vdivcenter1-1

Replication Partner

vcenter1-1

vcenter1-1

Replication Partner:

vdivcenter1-1

vcenter2-2

vdivcenter2-1

Replication Partner:

vcenter2-2

When applying patches, given this configuration, should all five vCenter servers be patched during the same maintenance window, or would it be ok to update the vCenter servers at our DR site first, wait a week, then update those for production, just to give time to uncover any potential issues?

config.vpxd.hostPasswordLength

I cant find this parameter or value for this parameter anywhere, I am trying to do the DISA STIG checklist for VCSA 6.7 ( I know the current DISA checklist is for 6.5) However I need to verify at the very least that the value for config.vpxd.hostPasswordLength is 32.  Has anyone seen this?

Network Permissions Do Not Propagate

Hello!

I am trying to set up an environment for my students using the ESXi and VCSA 6.7 from VMAP. I have everything done, except for the networking. I have set up a Distributed Switch and individual Distributed Port Groups for each class. I have created a role with that allows students to assign networks, but when I create a new permission, assign the role to the Distributed Switch, and check the box for Propagate to children, it doesn't propagate. The newly assigned permissions show up on the switch, but not on any of the associated port groups.

Permissions propagate for folders, resource pools, and datastores, so I feel like I am missing something because it isn't working for networks. Is that working as intended or is it a bug? Has anyone come across this and have a solution?

Edit: I downloaded and performed a clean install of VCSA 7 to see if it solved the problem, but it didn't.

Mails from vCenter 6.7 base64 encoded

Hi all,

I have a question about mails sent from vCenter. (Version: 6.7.0.44000 Build number 16046470)

And we have a tool we use for capturing mails and doing actions when the subject matches a predefined regex.

But the mails sent from vCenter are base64 encoded and our tool can't work with that yet...

Is there a way to turn of the base64 encoding?

Example:

QWxhcm0gVk0gLSBNYXggVG90YWwgRGlzayBMYXRlbmN5IG9uIFZpcnR1YWwgTWFjaGluZSA6IEZBS0UtVk0gaXMgUmVk

=>

Alarm VM - Max Total Disk Latency on Virtual Machine : FAKE-VM is Red

I've been searching in /etc/mail/README and /etc/mail/sendmail.cf but I can't figure it out...

Kind regards,

Jonathan

Adding Identity Source fails LDAP/LDAPS

Topic Name : Active Directory LDAP Server Identity Source Settings

Product/Version : VMware vSphere/6.7 Appliance

Question :

Want to add new identity source with LDAPS to our Active Directory Server. But all i tried failed.

At the moment we use windows integrated active directory setting to the same windows domain.

A check with curl to the needed ips and ports from appliance ssh root user was ok.

I get this error: Check the network settings and make sure you have network access to the identity source.

Also ports are open and firewall settings on windows were ok. ldp.exe is running on windows with port 636 and i can access and

bind with a user account.

Can someone help?

Problem adding more than three ESXi-hosts to VCSA

$

Hi together

We have VMWare farm with ESXi-Hosts (vSphere Enterprise), administrated in a vCenter Standard VCSA.

Everything's fine.

We have also some branch ESXi-Hosts (vSphere Essentials), three of them administrated in a vCenter Essentials VCSA.

But now there was a fourth branch ESXi-Hosts (vSphere Essentials) installed, and when I'm trying to add it in the VCSA, it tells me that only three hosts are able to administrated in this VCSA version.

My question is: is there any option, where I'm able to administrate all branch Essential ESXi-hosts in one VCSA?

Thank you guys

STS Certificate renew

$

I have a VCSA 6.5 where the builtin sts certificate is only valid for 2 years.

The documentation says it should be 10 years.

I only use the built in VMCA and no custom certs.

Is the builtin sts certificate automatically renewed ?

All other certificates are also valid for 2 years, will the VMCA automatically renew them ?

thx

Chris
